5. Click "Decimal" radio "Base" section. Under "Value data", enter the time (in milliseconds) for the preview to appear. (The Windows standard is 1000 ms.)

6. Click "OK" to accept the change.

Changing the delay time of the taskbar Previews

Among the coolest features of Windows 7 Taskbar previews that appear when you hover the mouse over the icon in the taskbar to run the program. But when you do this, the preview does not appear immediately. Fortunately, it's easy to speed it up (r, for some reason, slows down.

1. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced

2nd Right click in the right pane, click "New" and click "DWORD Value" or "DWORD (32 bits)."

3rd Name the new DWORD value "ExtendedUIHoverTime."

4. ExtendedUIHoverTime double-click to open it.

5th Click "Decimal" radio "core" section. In the "Value data", enter the time (in milliseconds) for the preview appears. (Windows default is 400ms.)

6. Click "OK" to accept the change.

When you hover the mouse over a thumbnail, all other windows disappear, and only shows the window. No delay associated with this. You can change this by adding a new DWORD value named in the same place, "ThumbnailLivePreviewHoverTime" and change it in the same way as above, setting it on what you want (in ms).

Disable Aero Snap

Performed in an easier way to organize on the Windows desktop, the Aero Snap automatically maximizes the window, if you pull the top of the screen, or resize a window for exactly half the width of the screen if you drag it left or always right. If you can not find this convenient feature, you can remove it.

1. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop.

Scroll down to the second "setting active window" in the right pane, double-click it to open it.

Change the third number of the "Value data" field 1 (Snap Aero is enabled) to 0

4th Click OK.

Change Logon Wallpaper

1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Authentication \ LogonUI \ History.

2. Finding the "OEMBackground" key, or click the right pane and select "New" then "DWORD (32 bit)" to create (and then gives that name).

3. Double-click on the "OEMBackground" to open it.

We can’t vouch for this hack, because we are too lazy to try it (and we never, ever violate copyrights or EULAs), but kind reader Martin explains the process for turning an Windows XP Home install disc to a Windows XP Pro disc after the jump.

It sounds pretty simple to do (just some registry changes), but you can’t install Service Pack 2, so you might try to slipstream in the changes to your modified install disc (if that’s even possible).

Alternately, buy XP Pro, or get a Mac.

Here’s the detailed breakdown you asked for.

1. Copy the root directory and the i386 directory of the WindowsXP CD
to your harddisk
2. Extract the Bootsector of your WindowsXP CD
3. Change 2 Bytes in i386\Setupreg.hiv :
a) Open Regedit
b) Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
c) Menu: File-> Load Strucure -> i386\Setupreg.hiv
d) Assign an arbitrary name to the imported structure e.g. “Homekey”
e) Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Homekey\ControlSet001\Services\setupdd
f) edit the binary key “default” and change “01” to “00” and “02” to
“00”
g) Highlight “Homekey” and select menu: File -> unload structure
4. Burn your new XP Pro CD
5. Install WindowsXP as usual. Your XP Home Key will work.

Note: You cannot apply SP2 to such a WindowsXP Pro, so step 1.b)

Offline Gmail is available to everyone who uses Gmail in US or UK English, so if you don’t see it under the Labs tab yet, it should be there soon. Once you see it, just follow these steps to get started:

1. Click Settings and click the Labs tab.
2. Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
3. Click Save Changes.
4. After your browser reloads, you’ll see a new “Offline0.1″ link in the upper righthand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don’t already have it.

When you hit save, Gmail will synchronize new messages you didn’t have downloaded before and remove the ones you’re not planning to read from your hard drive. You can always change your settings back to keep fewer or moremessages later on — fewer messages means Offline Gmail runs faster

New Features of Gmail Offline

The feature that Google implemented through Gmail Labs, Gmail offline, just received new functionality. That is, even when offline you can write an email and attach any file that when you have Internet access, the email will be sent automatically. It manages to offer a little more versatility in equipment such as netbooks or laptops.

The good thing about this is that being able to read messages while offline, and now write to attach a file, compared with a desktop mail client virtually no difference.
The new functionality to attach files offline has been integrated transparently to users, so if you had “Offline” live in GMail Labs, enjoy it directly and by activating the service, too.

To activate the new functionality, simply visit the Google Labs tab, select the Offline Gmail option, provided they had not previously checked, and save your changes. . Then in the top right corner of the Gmail page you will see a link “Offline”, that we will be able to click to start using the application.

Follow the steps below

1. Restart your computer

2. Press F8 key continuously until you get a black screen where you have many options to start you operating system

3. From the options “Select the Safe mode with Command Prompt”

4. When your computer starts in DOS mode, type the following commands

net user

This command displays the list of users on this OS in ROWS

5. Now type the following commands to reset the windows Administrator password

net user username password

Note: Enter your username above and space then password.

Then it asks the new password without the last password.
Now type your new password ******
Again retype your new password********
Note: When you type the password, it will not be displayed

Delete Autorun.inf Virus Manually using just Winrar

Once it happened to a friend of mine, when his newly bought laptop was infected with this autorun.inf virus. This virus corrupted almost all the drives on the Hard disk, and when ever he tried to double click on the drive or opening any drive it opened in a new window. In some cases, when your drive is infected with this Autorun.inf virus, you won’t be able to access the drive completely. You have to browse the drive by Exploring it i.e; Ctrl+E keys from the keyboard.

Sometimes ever you will not be able to see hidden files even if you have Show hidden files Enabled under Folder Options. well, this are all the wonders of this Autorun.inf virus.

I am going to show you this rare method of removing Autorun.inf manually using just winrar application, not any antivirus or malware programs.

Solution to Remove Autorun.inf Virus

Step 1: First Disable CD/DVD or USB Autorun in windows

Step 2: Open Winrar.exe (Start–>All Programs–>WinRar–>WinRar.exe)

Step 3: Now Browse to any drive that is infected with Autorun.inf virus using winrar explorer.

Step4: Here you will see all the hidden files under winrar for that particular drive.

Step 5: Look for the file Autorun.inf and open it using notepad.

Step 6: In that Autorun file, some .EXE file will be mentioned that will be executed along with the autorun file. This exe file is the main culprit.

Step 7: Note the exe file mentioned in the Autorun.inf file. Close this Autorun.inf file.

Step 8: Now look for that .Exe file in the drive (Ex: c:/), Delete that .exe file along with Autorun.inf

Step 9: Restart your Operating System. Now your system is free with Autorun.inf Virus.

Note: Repeat the same process if your Usb or Pendrives are infected with Autorun.inf virus.

For Safe Computing Disable CD/DVD or USB Autorun in windows

When ever you plug a usb device to the system or insert a cd/dvd disk, The windows Autorun Run utility runs and displays certain options like Open files to view, Play, Do nothing etc.

Although this a good utility provided by windows xp operating system, It is sometimes very dangerous too. When A virus infected Usb drive or Cd is plugged into the system, the virus gets a chance to attack you Operating system, by running automatically when you plug your device in. So, for this safety purpose, we need to Disable this Autorun feature in windows XP.

Follow the below steps and ensure your systems safety.

1) Click Start –> Run and type GPEDIT.MSC – This opens Group Policy editor window.

2) On the left side –> expand Computer Configuration–> Administrative Templates–> System.

3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off on the right side.

4) Double click it and select “Enabled”
